November Movie Night

The book of Esther is one of only two books in the entire Bible named for women. Esther contains the story of a beautiful young Jewess who risked her life to serve God and save her people. The story takes place approximately 100 years after the Jewish people exiled in Babylon were allowed to return to

Israel. Esther’s family was one of many who preferred to remain in the place where they had established themselves rather than risk the dangerous journey back to Jerusalem. However, remaining in Persia had its risks. This movie tells the story of how Esther saved her people from an evil plot to kill all the Jews in Persia.

The two overriding themes of this story are the sovereignty of God and God’s deliverance of His people. The movie stays true to the Biblical account, tells a compelling love story, while it remains wholesome entertainment. Its themes of courage, love and devotion are timeless and are to be appreciated.

Thurs., Nov. 30: There will be a matinee at 1 p.m., following the 12:10 Mass (bring a brown bag lunch if you like). There will also be a later viewing at 7 p.m.
