Giving Tuesday

#iGiveCatholic:

GivingTuesday (Nov. 28) is an annual global day of charitable giving that occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, our parish is participating in #iGiveCatholic – a 24- hour online fundraising event held in connection with GivingTuesday. Secure, tax-deductible donations will be accepted on #iGiveCatholic throughout that 24-hour period.

There is also an advanced giving option which has already begun and continues through Nov. 26. In this Thanksgiving season, #iGiveCatholic is another opportunity for us as a Catholic community to affirm our faith and advance the mission of the Church in a practical way.

Living out our mission requires responding to immediate practical needs. For this year’s GivingTuesday, we have identified three modest but pressing, current needs that should no longer be delayed:

1) Re-furnishing the Youth Ministry Room in the Basement of the Parish Office

2) External Safety Improvements in Parish Parking Lot, Pavement, etc.

3) Fireproof storage facilities for permanent Church records.

Magazines & Books for Adult Faith Formation

The magazine rack includes the newest issues of America, Catholic Digest, Liguorian, St. Anthony Messenger, and U.S. Catholic. Please put your money in the envelope clipped to each magazine, and place in the collection. The parish must pay for all magazines removed from the rack.

We have a small selection of spiritual books for sale at our cost. Please put your money (cash/ check made out to IC) in the book’s envelope and place it in the lock box located on the wall to the right of the book shelves.

The rack itself is located in the Church vestibule.

Longest Married Couple Search!

Our Diocese is blessed with many couples happily married for over 50 years. These strong witnesses to the Sacrament of Matrimony should and need to be celebrated. The Office of Marriage Preparation and Enrichment is searching for the Longest Married couple in each parish and will send a Certificate of Recognition to the winner as a tie in to the National Marriage Week in February, sponsored by the USCCB World Marriage Day, and Marriage Encounter’s eighth annual search for the Longest Married Couple in the US. For the last two years the Diocese of Knoxville has had the Longest Married Couple in Tennessee. To nominate a couple for this honor please submit the names, how long they have been married and what parish they belong to by Jan. 7, to Marian Christiana at mchristiana@dioknox.org.
